非網羅的: 一部の要素だけ記述できる(列挙したもの以外にもあることを暗示する)
「含まれているのか除外されているのか」に関心がある場合に「それが全体の一部として入っている」ことを表す

「成分･構成要素･内訳などの具体的な中味」に関心がある場合に「それを中に含んでいる」ことを表す

網羅的: すべての要素を記述しなければならない
be consisted ofとはならない
be composed ofが多い
能動態は作曲するの意味で使われるので受動態が多いと思われる
標準的用法では、“the whole comprises the parts”となります。最近では、"the whole is comprised of the parts"という用法がよくみられます。しかし、英語表現の専門家の一部は、後者の用法が誤りであるとしているので、そのことを認識した上で使用することです。代わりに"consists of"を選択すれば問題はありません。
