While refers to two things happening at the same time. “While I cooked, she set the table.” Whereas contrasts two items. “This one is black, whereas that one is white.” It is commonplace to misuse while to mean whereas. I avoid that in formal writing.
whileは2つの物事が同時に起こることを表します。"私が料理してる間に、彼女はテーブルを用意した。"

While is sometimes used, without causing any misunderstandings, in the sense of whereas (‘although,’ ‘by contrast,’ ‘in comparison with the fact that’). This usage is frowned on by some traditionalists, but while is sometimes preferable, as in contexts in which whereas might sound inappropriately formal: while you say you like her, you've never stood up for her.
