FAQ
Q:I am a part-time lecturer, and I would like to obtain a kibaco ID and PW. How should I obtain them?
A:First-time kibaco users who teach general education subjects must apply for registration through the Academic Affairs Division (Kyomu-ka) to the Academic Information Technology Center, and for those who teach specialized and graduate courses through the Academic Affairs Section of each department (Kyomu-kakari). Please contact the Academic Affairs Division or the Academic Affairs Section of each department for application status.

Q:I got an ID and PW for kibaco in the past, but if I forget them, how can I have them reissued?
A:Please contact the Academic Information Infrastructure Center, System Management Office 1 or System Management Office 2 by email. The email addresses are as follows:
・System management room 1: tmuope-center@tmu.ac.jp
・System management room 2: tmuope-minamicr@tmu.ac.jp

Q:I am currently using Zoom with a “tmu.ac.jp” e-mail address, but I heard that Zoom would not issue a second account to the same email address when the university gets a Zoom license. What should I do?
A:The e-mail address you have already registered for Zoom's monthly/yearly subscription plans cannot be used for your TMU Zoom account. You will have to cancel your original account or apply with another e-mail address. The e-mail address registered for a free/basic Zoom plan can be used for your TMU Zoom account.

Q:There are concerns about Zoom's security vulnerability. What should we think about them?
A:There are reports about Zoom's security vulnerability, such as "concerns about their encryption method," and "potential intrusion by outsiders," depending on the user's settings. In response to suggestions from security experts around the world, the company is responding quickly to version upgrades, etc., and the level of security is rapidly improving. Therefore, at this point, the university believes that Zoom is an appropriate tool for online classes. Please take appropriate measures such as not using SNS when communicating class URLs and passwords to students and limiting the screen sharing ability only to the host (teacher).

Q:Do we have an idea about the approximate amount of data used by students who have only smartphones to participate in online classes?
A:According to a trial calculation of data volume for Zoom lectures carried out by the University of Tokyo, if a 90-minute class is delivered 10 times a week, it will be 12 GB per month.

Q:Are there issues with copyright law that we should keep in mind when conducting online classes?
A:The "Public Transmission Compensation System for Teaching Purpose", which was established with the revision of the Copyright Law in 2018, will be implemented on April 28, 2020. If you pay a compensation, you may use copyrighted material in online classes without permission of the copyright holder. Compensation fee is exempted as a special case for the 2020 academic year. If you have concerns about the handling of copyrights, please contact the Society for the Administration of Remuneration for Public Transmission for School Lessons (SARTRAS).
In addition, it is illegal for students to share unpublished PDF texts created by the faculty for classes or the recordings of Zoom lectures on SNS or redistribute them to the public without permission of the copyright holder. In some cases, the mishandling of information may lead to lawsuits, etc. It is necessary to draw students’ attention to these consequences in your classes.

Q:When delivering classes from home, you may need a microphone, camera, Wi-Fi router, etc. Will the university pay for them?
A:When delivering online classes from home, the university is asking the faculty member to prepare necessary devices on their own. The university plans to arrange necessary devices for delivering online classes from a university classroom.

Q:I'm in charge of a class with more than 100 students, and using Zoom's chat function is not the best way to keep track of attendance. Are there other ways to keep track of attendance?
A:For example, you may use kibaco to give an assignment for each lesson and count the submission as attendance, or you may use kibaco’s test / questionnaire function for similar purposes.

Q:Is it possible to change the location from which I deliver my online classes, for example the first few times from home and then after that from a classroom at the university?

Q:What should we think and prepare for final exams?
