ジョセフ・バトラー（1692年5月18日- 1752年6月16日）は、イングランドのバークシャー州（現在のオックスフォードシャー州）のワンテージで生まれた、イングランドの聖公会司教、神学者、弁証家、哲学者であった。彼の主な著作は『ロールズ礼拝堂で説教された15の説教』（1726年）と『宗教の類推』（1736年）である。

彼は理神論、トマス・ホッブズのエゴイズム、ジョン・ロックの人格同一性理論に対する批判で知られている。バトラーが影響を与えた多くの哲学者や宗教思想家には、デイヴィッド・ヒューム、トーマス・リード、アダム・スミス、ヘンリー・シジウィック、ジョン・ヘンリー・ニューマン、チャーリー・ダンバー・ブロードなどがおり、広く「傑出したイギリスの道徳家の一人」と見なされている。彼は18世紀の経済言説の発展において、過小評価されているものの重要な役割を果たし、政治経済学者のジョサイア・タッカーに影響を与えた。
