ツール・ド・フランスの選手の乳酸値曲線
ツール・ド・フランスの選手の乳酸値曲線
@Alan_Couzens: Received a very nice "data donation" from one of the top World Tour cyclists today. A big thank you to my anonymous donor 🙏 Sharing to give a little perspective on just what a lactate curve at the very top of endurance sport looks like...
Stand out points in the thread below👇

@Alan_Couzens: So, now that we have our top World Tour cyclist's lactate data, let's take a look at what a typical training ride consists of as he approaches the Tour De France これで、ワールドツアーのトップサイクリストの乳酸データが得られたので、ツールドフランスに近づくときの典型的なトレーニングライドの構成を見てみましょう。
@Alan_Couzens: You'll remember that his Aerobic Threshold occurred at an impressive 353W! (at a heart rate of 150 bpm) This would put his zone 2 (AeT to AeT+10) at ~350-380W!
So, surely he's doing a lot of work in Z2 around that 350W/150bpm, right?
Wrong!
Here are typical ride summary stats
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FTigsiCUsAEPOtA.png
Average HR is ~30bpm below *first inflection* (~70 beats below max!)
This is not to say the whole ride was easy...
@Alan_Couzens: The "main set" of the ride (~20%) of the total session was a ~1:10 climb at the end of a 6.5hr day at 270-300W accumulating ~1200kJ of work in that time! This was to round out a 5200kJ day! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FTilYkoUsAA53Xl.png
@Alan_Couzens: Most of the day (& even the main set) was well below AeT. However, for an athlete this fit, even workloads below AeT represent an extreme metabolic load. This becomes the real challenge of long stage racing with huge engine athletes....
@Alan_Couzens: It becomes less a question of "who has the biggest engine?" and more a question of "who has the gas in the tank to fuel their engine at the end of a very long day?" Thanks again to our World Tour Pro for giving us a glimpse into the training behind his World Class physiology 🙏

@feelthebyrn1: @KeirenC93 @hjluks We need to be wary of taking pieces of an elite approach into our programs 1mmol ⬆️ baseline can mean different things
1- baseline can be 0.9-2.0
2- lactate creep ⬆️ in the field depending on fitness and clearance capacity (microspikes)
