Stress
Stress
During the past three years, I have been thinking a lot about the concepts of Vertical Diversity and Horizontal Diversity. In my hometown of Osaka, there is a vertical diversity in terms of social hierarchy, where one's background and experiences are closely tied to their chances of success. On the other hand, since moving to Tokyo, I have encountered people with diverse careers and backgrounds, which has made me appreciate the horizontal diversity. Having individuals with different backgrounds involved in a problem-solving process can lead to a wider range of solutions. However, difference and gap can also contribute to stress, although they can be seen as growing pains if they are acquired voluntarily. It is important to note that there are two types of stress, either external or internal. Considering the reasons mentioned above, I believe that Minerva University, compared to Ivy League schools, has a higher proportion of international students and attracts individuals with diverse backgrounds. This creates an environment where various perspectives come together, which can be beneficial for the overall learning experience.
