The theory of zk-SNARKs involves constructing non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs, which are applied to achieve transaction privacy in blockchain and provide a solution to the scaling problem in Ethereum. In addition to the three properties of zero-knowledge proofs, zk-SNARKs also incorporate four properties specific to SNARKs.
One of the key advantages of zk-SNARKs is their concise nature, which not only enables zero-knowledge proofs but also reduces the cost of the verification process. Zk Rollups leverage this advantage by consolidating multiple transactions into a single entity, significantly reducing costs. With zk-SNARKs, it becomes possible to verify all the transactions within a Zk Rollup without individually verifying each one.
