Levi-Strauss
What
Levi-Strauss is a French anthropologist known for his work in structuralism. I first learned about him in the context of structuralism through either "Introduction to Structuralism" or "Structuralism that you can learn while sleeping," where he discusses the basic structure of relatives and the concept of incest.
Influences
Levi-Strauss was heavily influenced by linguistics, particularly structural linguistics and phonology. He drew inspiration from scholars such as Saussure and Jacobson. Additionally, he was influenced by Marcel Mauss's theory of gift.
Things I Wrote
I have been reading "Sad Tropics," which is one of the world famous books written by Malinowski and Levi-Strauss. In this book, Levi-Strauss explores various topics. I also encountered his wild thinking, where he criticizes Sartre's existentialism.
