Title: Social Singularity, Sensor Planned Economy, and the Future of Power Separation | VECTION | note
Highlights & Notes
If the market is nothing more than a "giant parallel computer (e.g. many humans) that finds an efficient way to solve simultaneous equations (i.e. a mechanism that maximizes the number of transactions that take place) related to supply and demand," then in a world with incredible computing power, markets may no longer be necessary, according to the fantasy.
Of course, without enormous computing power, humans have no choice but to actually trade and have production and distribution determined by the price mechanism. However, in a world where technological singularity has occurred and computing power is sufficient to simulate the thoughts of all humanity, the mechanism of distribution, markets, and prices may become obsolete.
At that time, the old-fashioned concept of "planned economy" may once again see the light of day. Amazon does logistics, Netflix does recommendations, and we do it on a larger scale based on biological information. Furthermore, we simulate the consumption behavior of all humanity based on that biological information within the computer.
