The AI Scientist generates the text for each section of the paper (introduction, background, methods, etc.), using recorded notes and figures

#Self-reflection is applied initially to refine each section

Citations are added only after the text is completed to reduce hallucination

Web Search for References

The AI Scientist uses the Semantic Scholar API to find the most relevant sources for the paper’s related work section, adding citations as necessary

Refinement

The draft paper is refined section-by-section to remove redundant information and streamline the arguments

Compilation

The final LaTeX document is compiled. A LaTeX linter is used to catch and correct errors automatically.
