noun (plural antiquities)
1. the ancient past, especially the period before the Middle Ages:
古代〘特に古代ギリシャ・ローマの時代〙; 古(いにしえ)の時代
e.g. the great civilizations of antiquity.
(usually antiquities) an object, building, or work of art from the ancient past:
〖通例-ties〗古代の遺物[遺跡, 美術品].
e.g. an extensive collection of Greek antiquities.
2. great age:
(年代を経て)きわめて古いこと.
e.g. a church of great antiquity.
