北海道十勝地方の広大な自然に囲まれた「メム」に、私たちは「Memu Open Research Campus」を立ち上げました。ここでは研究や探求を軸に、目の前の同一の環境に多様な観点で傾聴し向き合う人々が集い、資源（可能性の束）の「再読」を通じて、社会における関係性の再編成に取り組む場と時間を提供しています。Memu Open Research Campusは、ものづくりを介して広がる知の交流拠点として、これからの地域資源循環のありかたが芽吹き、次次世代のまなびが湧き出ずる場所であり続けたいと考えています。

私たちは、東京大学生産技術研究所の「memu earth lab」と連携し、過疎地域であるメムでの研究をリードする学術機関パートナーとして、国内外様々な機関の多様な専門分野の研究者や探求者、そして年齢層をまたぐ個人実践者の結集を促進しています。過去には、農業、建築、芸術、建築科学、料理、教育、エネルギー、林業、造園、音楽、植物学、持続可能性学など、幅広い分野の方々が来訪、研究活動に携わってきました。

30の施設を有する20ヘクタールのキャンパスは、国内外から来訪する研究活動従事者、地域の第一次産業に従事する人々、北海道の先住民族であるアイヌの人々、あらゆる年齢の生涯学習者、子どもたちを中心に構成されるステークホルダーが活動を行う場所として開かれています。私たちは、継続的な学びの機会を促進し、地域の産業や教育の現状を再定義し、その構造的課題に挑戦するための対話を行う機会を作っています。未来社会への構造的転換の態度を実践するため、地域資源循環の管理、営農型太陽光発電によるグリーンエネルギー転換、次世代教育セッションの開催、オープンキャンパスの実施に取り組んでいます。

Memu Open Research Campus は、2023年に結成された一般社団法人資源再読機構／Rereading Company によって運営されています。

We have established Memu Open Research Campus in Memu, a place surrounded by the vast near-nature environment of the Tokachi region of Hokkaido. People gather here to research and explore, actively listening to the same environment through diverse perspectives, (re)reading the bundle of possibilities that expands in front of us which we once called a resource. We hope to provide a space and time to reconfigure various not-so-sounding relationships in our current society into those sounding for the next generation. We hope for the campus to continuously foster an assembly for exchanging ever-expanding knowledge derived through mutually associated creative processes, where future local resource circulation will be practiced and the next-next generation's learning will well up.

We have an alignment with “memu earth lab” of the University of Tokyo Institute of Industrial Science as the research leading academic institutional partner, facilitating the assemblage of researchers and searchers from diverse disciplinary specializations of different institutions and individual practitioners of diverse age range, in remote and distanced land of Memu. Past engagements include agriculture, architecture, art, building science, culinary, education, energy, forestry, landscape architecture, music, plant studies, sustainability science, and beyond.

The twenty-hectare campus with thirty facilities is open to researchers in and out of the country, local stakeholders whose population is mainly composed of the primary industry, Indigenous Hokkadio Ainu people, continuing education of all ages, and children. We facilitate continuous learning opportunities through which dialogues can be held on redefining the current state of local industries and education, challenging its structural problems. To showcase and practice our attitudes toward a future society, the campus manages local resource circulation, transitions to green energy with Agrivoltaics, hosts next-next-generation education sessions, and holds open campus days.

Memu Open Research Campus is operated by Rereading Company, established in 2023.
