Gosho (the imperial palace) is surrounded by a large public park (Kyoto Gyoen) with wide lanes for strolling, beautifully trimmed pine trees, and several park areas.
Notes
The north side has a grove where you can see beautiful cherry trees full of blossoms and enjoy a hanami drinking party in the spring chery blossom season.
The east side is very close to Demachi and the Kamo river
There are some days when you can take a tour of part of the palace grounds.
The imperial family lives in Tokyo normally, but they do occasionally visit and use Gosho.
