Like cars in Japan, people stay to the left on sidewalks when passing each other
if you look foreign, people might expect you to stay to the right, causing confusion at times
One exception is Bicycles which generally always take the side of the sidewalk closer to the street If in a crowded area, consider using the one raised hand to indicate "i'm cutting through" Hand gestures Observe markings on the ground in train stations which indicate where to line up and where not to stop, etc.
