We send you some hand-knitted and hand-crocheted bird nests for wild birds from Japan.
At the end of March, I got to know about your calling for bird nests via tweets from my friends. They really wanted to do something for you, but they were all Japanese and had difficulty in doing so due to language barrier. I also felt like doing something for you, and fortunately I could read and write English, and just started to learn knitting and crocheting.
In order to bridging the language barrier, I started a charitable activity to gather bird nests from Japanese knitters and crocheters and send them to you. After I called for bird nests on Twitter, more than 600 people have reacted in a few days and many bird nests have gathered. I will keep sending you these nests as long as they gather, hopefully not only this year but also over the coming years.
I, and many knitters and crocheters in Japan, would like to thank you for giving us an opportunity to do something great. One of the common worries among knitters and crocheters is a pile of unused yarns. We feel joy in making effective use of these yarns for this hart-warming activity.
