［event］Kansai Studies Open Research: Searching for water in the city

Kansai Studies is a new research program at Kyoto Experiment. This year, led by Lake Biwako and the Lake Biwa Canal, we have continued our research in to all kinds of aspects related to water. Through this research, I’ve realized that water has a direct connection to life and culture, from ancient times to the present day. On the one hand, if you go for a walk on a sunny day in the city it may be rare to see any water, however that’s not to say that water doesn’t flow within the city. There must be signs of water, hidden water or water that has leaked out of somewhere with nowhere to go. I’d like to invite participants to search for this water together and discover the city from a different perspective. (Nagara Wada)

・ After meeting and listening to a brief orientation at Production Room 1 in Kyoto Art Center, participants will go out to conduct research in the city.

・ Photos taken by research participants will be introduced in the Kansai Studies Exhibition and on the Kansai Studies website.

・ Please note this research will be held after taking appropriate measures against the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in accordance the festival’s guidelines.

An exhibition in which you can experience the research process of Kansai Studies runs from March 20th (Sat) – 28th (Sun) 12:00-20:00.

A talk by research members (dot architects and Nagara Wada) takes place March 20th (Sat) 13:00-14:30.
