Possible editing software switching?
alternative title: / why AviUtl isn't really for English users ...in my opinion

For months (or maybe even years) i was maining Adobe Premiere Pro as my video editing software.
It was my trusty machinery through making random stupid projects i made ever since i've been using it.
After much research and learning things that Premiere Pro can't do, i decided to switch to AviUtl (it could be either permanently or temporaily).
The process wasn't really that easy though, due to struggling to get some japanese plugins on the English mod to work, and constant lagging while editing which gave me alot of frustration, but...
do you recommend using AviUtl(EN)?
one answer.... i'm not sure (yet)
Which is why i made this blog post dedicated to how extremely unreliable AviUtl(EN) is despite how usable it is..
If you don't know, the English mod was made by a user called Maverick Tse (atleast from what i've heard) years ago, and while it served its purpose for a while, it somewhat failed to keep up with the evolving demands of modern video editing for English users. for example:

(picked reviews from videohelp.com)
But, that's not just it though, Despite its beginning of the first modded software ever existed, the lack of performance over the years left the software outdated and more harder to use.
(it's pretty ironic that the same guy who modded AviUtl abandoned the entire project. lol.)

But can we use the plugins to make the editor a bit more functional?
Simple answer: yes, and no.
The "Yes" is that you can use the pre-modded plugins included in the setup installer, or use english plugins.
The "No" is....
quite a bit of a long story...
I've been using popular plugins that are commonly used for AviUtl itself (not the modded version) like patch.aul and other plugins.
If you don't know what patch.aul is, it's basically a plugin made by ePI5131 that adds useful features, including GPU accelerated stuff for exedit, and most importantly, the Redo shortcut! (yes, the original exedit didn't include the redo shortcut for some reason)
But there's an issue, Since exedit.auf is hard-modified, patch.aul doesn't recognise exedit anymore, So does other plugins that DO actually require the original exedit.
And besides that, you can't even understand anything because it wouldn't normally render the Japanese text (even enabling UTF-8 encoding made it even worse) :D

But there might be some hope(?)

There's a github issue posted a year ago (as of this blog posts release) that they're going to add a boolean option to disable the version checking on patch.aul
so will there be patch.aul for the English mod?
Probably not, as the post was only from a year ago, but if they actually added the function, ill try to update this post if i found out about it
But yeah, using the modded version of AviUtl can be very frustrating, especially when experiencing performance issues while editing.
It doesn't really mean i hate the modded software alone, it's pretty nice considering that Maverick tried their best to mod the entire software as long as possible
Other than that, atleast the editor is still stable like it should be. :D
