Project Charter
Project 1: Deploying Genomic Pathogen Surveillance (DGPS) in location
(location: update to Cebu or Davao or wherever the location will be)
Project Scope Statement
DGPS will establish a lab-in-suitcase in location. This lab will be capable of whole genome sequencing of viruses.
Why DGPS?
Pandemic management not only requires testing, but also genetic identification. Genetic sequencing of viruses provides data that allow the following.
Lineages could tell us where new cases came from, thus guide control measures.
Identify the root cause of vaccine failures
For future outbreaks, a sequencing lab could identify the virus
More.
This has recently become feasible due to the lowering cost of sequencing, particularly with Oxford Nanopore Technologies
