Muntiacus muntjak x Muntiacus reevesi (Indian muntjac 2n=7 x Chinese muntjac 2n=46): Liming and Pathak (1981)
Liming and Pathak, Cytogenet. Cell Genet. (1981)
Indian muntjac x Chinese muntjac hybrid
Indian muntjac male (2n=7)
chinese muntjac female (2n=46)
hybrid: 2n = 27
23 chromosomes from Chinese muntjac
4 chromosomes from Indian muntjac
This cross occured naturally at the Shanghai Western Suburb Park Zoo (China).
This is the infertile hybrid but a certain degree of homolgy pairing and synaptic behavior could be confirmed.

homolog pairing
Only a short region showed homologous pairing.
My Questions
How many homologous base pairs (or how many percents of homology on chromosomes) are reuqired to make the homologous pairing between chromosomes?
