● 当日の活動内容/Activities of the Day
We were fortunate enough to receive visitors from Japan, the first batch being Saori and her students, who commenced work on the shed. The first Saturday after the construction began, the kids were so excited to see what had been promised for a long time taking shape. Everyone welcomed the team and assisted in every way to make their work efficient and guarantee the delivery of the shade covering the entire patio where the dance team practices.

This Saturday, all the instructors except the dance instructor Java who was missing due to a personal emergency, teachers, and students arrived early to start the activities in the cool morning environment. Given the space where activities were under construction, the students sought alternative practicing space to conduct their practice. The dance team used to do open-air practice and did not have much trouble adjusting to the outside conditions compared to the recital and playgroup teams.

Despite the new environment, practice went on generally as expected. The instructors quickly ensured the kids acclimatized to their new environment and began their practice sessions. Considering the conducive weather, the morning session was intense, as usual for the dancers. The kids went over their previous choreographies and introduced new ones in readiness for the exhibition that was to come in a week.

The recital team practiced outside under the sun this time to give room for the construction. They were quite uncomfortable, but it was a necessary sacrifice for a better practice environment in the future. Their morning session mainly comprised rehearsing poems and songs they had previously learned. They, too, were preparing for the exhibition, which would include all groups showcasing what they had learned and how their skills had improved since joining the program.

The morning session went well until break time, when the kids made porridge. Our resident cook prepared delicious porridge for the entire team present at HPC, including the construction team, Saori, and her students and colleagues who helped with the construction work. Everyone enjoyed a cup of delicious porridge and resumed their duties, with the construction team heading back to assemble the shed.

The kids resumed their activities with their respective instructors, and the activity proceeded up to 0200hrs. Usually, by this time, the kids are tired and hungry; hence, for whole days, they take immense pleasure in taking lunch; otherwise, on half a day, they go home to re-energize on lunch from home. Fortunately for everyone, it was a full day; hence, we served lunch on-site for everyone to enjoy.

The lunch was adequate for the entire team; however, the cutlery wasn’t; some had to wait until the kids ate and released their cutlery before they could start eating. Nonetheless, everyone had a share of the meal to their satisfaction. After lunch, we briefly met with the kids and dismissed them for home, allowing the team working on the construction to continue with their work to the end of the day.
● 今後の望ましい対応/Recommendation
The activity went well, as expected, with no disruptions despite being misplaced by our usual practice. However, it was all for the greater good. The construction work also went smoothly for the day, and we’re all eager to see the final completed design.
