Activities of the Day
The activities continue to pick up pace with the regular attendance of the kids and the dance instructor alongside other stakeholders who ensure the activities run smoothly without any interference. The day's practice session commenced on time at 0900hrs after the arrival of all the kids. It is noteworthy to mention that the weather was conducive for the energy-intensive session, especially for the dance group.
The recitals team still did not have their instructor to take them through the practice session but one of the elder students from the dance team stepped in to cover for the instructor as he also attends some of the recitals practice sessions and is familiar with the pieces they present. The morning session went on uninterrupted with both teams putting the effort to improve their craft.

The dance team was split into two groups and they each practiced alongside each other to learn from one another. The elder and more skilled teenagers guided the younger ones during the practice session to ensure they were on track and keenly followed the choreography of the day. This idea was proposed by our patron and ever since it has worked magic to ensure everyone learns at their own pace and is in a group that motivates them to constantly improve.
At 1100hrs the kids have a short break to take porridge that was prepared by our resident cook; Alice. The kids appreciated the provision of the porridge as it served as an energizer to enable them to continue with the second session of the day. After the porridge break, everyone assembled in their area of practice to continue with the second session of the day. The second session of the day was just as fruitful and successful as the first, the dance team continued to brace the partly sunny weather and practice. The instructor keenly followed through the development and skill level of each student as he interchanged between the teenagers and the junior dancers.
While the second session of intense practice proceeded, Joseph and I went around assessing the progress of the different groups as well as marking the register to record the kids who were in attendance on that day. We also briefly interacted with the kid to get their feedback on the activity and inquire if there were any challenges but nothing much came out of that as they were all comfortable with the activity then.

At the end of the second session at around 0200hrs, the kids called it a day, ended the practice, and assembled in the classroom for a short meeting before departing for home. Again the recitals group expressed concern over the absence of their instructor and had questions we couldn’t answer as we had not heard from him yet. The teachers and instructor engaged the kids with pieces of advice and motivation before we dismissed them for home as the clouds had started gathering indicative of a downpour in a short while hence we had to release the kids to make it home in time.
Recommendation
We started scouting for a replacement of Eric as we haven’t heard from him in three weeks now and the recitals team continue to miss out on guided practice sessions. They have since been going over the previous recitals with no progress on the ones they had started prior to Eric’s departure.
