次の英文は正しいか？
This is the house ... which Hideyo Noguchi was born.
ここは 家だ 野口英世が生まれた（家だ）
答えは「正しくない」だ。
正解はThis is the house / ( which Hideyo Noguchi was born * in . )だ。 ① ②
ポイント 実は，関係詞①（=先行詞） と 関係詞より後ろ② を足すと完全な文ができる。
→ Hideyo Noguchi was born in + which(=the house).
→ 完全な文にするには前置詞inが絶対必要。
では練習をしてみよう。
先行詞と関係詞より後ろを足してみよう。足してみて完全ならOK. 不完全なら訂正せよ。

1945年は年だった 僕の父が生まれた（年だった）
2) I spoke to the woman とすると完全。なので...
The woman ...who(m) I spoke to ...was her sister.
The 女性は 僕が話しかけた（女性は）= 彼女のお姉さんだった。
3) I often play video games with a friend. とすると完全。なので...
I have a friend ...whom I often play video games with. と訂正。
僕には友人がいる 一緒によくゲームをする（友人が）
4) he is interested in the type of music とすると完全。なので...
The type of music... which he is interested in ...is hiphop. と訂正。
The 音楽の種類は 彼が興味がある（音楽の種類は）=ヒップホップだ。
5) Yumi is talking with the girlとすると完全。
The girl ... whom Yumi is talking with ... is her classmate. と訂正。
女の子は ゆみが話している（女の子は）=彼女の同級生だ。
6) she made chocolate for the boyとすると完全。
The boy ...whom she made chocolate for ... is Taro.と訂正。
男の子は 彼女がチョコを作ってあげた（男の子は）=太郎だ。
まとめ
先行詞と関係詞の後の部分を足すと完全な文になる。前置詞が必要かどうかをチェック！
実は，

②This is the house ... in which Dr. Noguchi was born. と前置詞を関係代名詞の前に おける。
①では前置詞はひとりぼっちだ。 名詞くんというパートナーがいない。そこで，inを前にうつし，②のようにin which(=in the house)とすると前置詞は（代）名詞くんというパートナーをえて喜ぶ。遠距離恋愛を解消だ。
重要ルール 前置詞は遠距離恋愛を嫌う。（代）名詞くんの前に来たがる。
前置詞をどこかに移動させなさい。

重要ルール ( 前置詞) と関係詞thatはともには使えない。in that to that →(in whichとかto whichにする )
間違いがあれば直せ □ This is the house in that she lives .
→前置詞とthatは相性が悪い。in whichに変える。
正解 This is the house in which she lives.

先生T：できない。前置詞の後ろの名詞は前置詞の目的語の扱い。目的語扱いのwhomを使う。
生徒S: あと、8) in which は、in thatではダメなんですよね。
先生T：そう。前置詞と関係詞thatの相性が悪い。この場合in which(=in the house)でないとだめなんだ。
最後に２つの文を１つにまとめるやり方を示して終わるよ。
次の２つの文を２つの文にしなさい。

その面白い男は 例のパーティで僕が話していた（男は） ＝トムの兄さんだった。
こんなふうに、前置詞＋関係詞は（ ）の先頭におく。そして先行詞のすぐ右隣に置かなくてはならない。

T先生：前置詞が前に来ない、単独のwhomは消すことができる。
