Shampoo first appeared in Japan around 1930. In 1932, Kao launched "Kao Hair Washing Shampoo," with the catchphrase "Once a week, even if you are tired". Around 1960, advertisements such as "Today is the day to wash our hair" and "Shampoo once every five days" began to appear. In the 1980s, Akina Nakamori appeared in a Kao TV commercial saying, "Can you believe it? One out of two teenagers shampoo their hair every day. By looking at shampoo advertisements in this way, it is clear that attitudes toward washing hair have changed dramatically over the past 100 years.
