Smoking is now considered to be very harmful, and it is common sense that people should consider where and when they smoke. This idea has only been established in recent years; until the 1990s, you could smoke on airplanes and no one thought it was strange. Many people now find this unacceptable. A major influence on this change was the no-smoking rule. The non-smoking rule requires smokers to refrain from smoking around non-smokers. This rule led people to believe that smoking is wrong.
