In August of 1966, Charles Whitman climbed a tower at the University of Texas and started shooting. He killed 13 people and hurt 31. Police shot him dead there. Later, doctors checked his brain and found a tumor in his brain. It was pressing on an area called the amygdala. This amygdala controls emotions, especially fear and aggression. The relationship between Whitman's brain and the case is not known, but his behavior may have been influenced by this tumor. Was he responsible for the shooting, or was he not?
