Grace

After completing her training at ARI, Grace went on to get bachelor’s degree in Theology. She is now a pastor in the denomination African Christian Church and Schools (ACC&S), in which every church is connected with a school. Here she began to work with other women leaders in the church to establish Savings and Credit Co-Operatives (SACCOs).

Women’s Action is the name of the SACCO she is most deeply involved with. Working hand in hand with the ladies of this co-op as a servant leader, she provides training in organic farming, helping the women to develop nutritious and healthy food sources for their families. She also encourages them to start income generation projects to bring extra money into the household. With the assistance of others, Grace has created certified educational programs (Training of Trainers programs) in financial management, family life, health and nutrition, stress management, leadership and the roles of women in the church. She also had a hand in starting a hostel on the church compound for women studying at nearby Mt. Kenya University.

Grace’s daily activities show her love for her fellow women with great concern placed on their spiritual needs as well as their physical needs. Women in her group are identified by a special uniform – a Lesos (skirt), t-shirt, and head scarf. To those who are truly dedicated, a tablecloth is given, which is proudly draped over their coffin in the event of their death. She is a steadfast source of love and encouragement for "her ladies" and truly lives according to her motto, “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it for the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God the Father”.
