I don’t have a lot of faith in Kickstarter. Why should I back another one?
By backing this Kickstarter, you’re empowering the creators, allowing them to own their IP, something they haven’t been able to do in the 30 years they’ve worked in the game industry. You’ll also receive all DLC for free, and you will get the game before it releases in the retail channel.
Finally, besides being someone helping to make our dreams come true, you’ll be able to participate in a wide variety of polls and surveys throughout the campaign that will shape the future of the game.

Will this really be done in 2 1/2 years?
With the current external partners we are working with, such as Coyote Runner, we have a wide variety of development sources we can tap if necessary.

Will the game be exclusive to any one platform?
We will not enter into an exclusive agreement with a platformer. We have vehemently pushed this point with any potential publishing partner and won’t enter into an agreement with a publisher that requires us to do that. That being said, porting for platforms, CPU/GPU limitations etc are a real issue so we need to be careful with the commitments we make.

Unfortunately, we cannot reveal that because there are several we are discussing the project with.

Will this campaign have add-ons?
We’ve seen requests for add-ons, and we’ve noticed that other campaigns have offered add-ons by using Backer Kit. As we’re not using Backer Kit for our campaign, we instead tried to offer as many different options as possible in our reward tiers. We apologize for the sheer number of tiers that are available as a result.

Why is the beta only available on PC?
Unfortunately, most console first parties continue to charge token fees to hand out codes. The harsh reality is that even for a 60 dollar physical copy, around 30% of that will go to console first parties for DL codes. Another 8-10% for KS handling fees. Then you have a standard 15-25% for merchandise. That basically means out of 60 dollars about 35% or around 21 dollars is actual money that can be used for the development of the game.
If the Beta required token costs to be covered for console versions, in addition to the port costs we'd be looking at an even bigger hit to the development budget, and that would mean less content to go into the final game for all backers.

Will there be tariffs charged against shipped physical copies?
While tariffs are determined individually by country, and are technically out of our control, we will be shipping copies from within the US, EU, and Japan, which will hopefully greatly limit the need for any major tariffs.
Given that all regional versions of Eiyuden Chronicle will ship with the same amount of content and the same languages, we recommend that you choose the region in which you live in order to keep shipping costs down.

Why does this not have 108 characters?
What a strangely specific number. 100 characters is quite a lot, but who knows what mysteries could be hidden within the campaign’s stretch goals. Wouldn’t it be cool if the campaign even allowed for backer participation in determining additional characters?

What engine are you using to develop the game?
We are using Unity. That allows us to run the game on mid-level PCs. The current in-game videos shown on this campaign page were made in-engine.
