SchellingCoin: A Minimal-Trust Universal Data Feed
SchellingCoin is a concept that aims to provide a minimal-trust universal data feed. In order to understand the price of ETH/USD for work at the exchange, a reliable source is needed. Cryptographic technology alone does not have the means to know much about the outside world. There is no mathematical algorithm that represents something like the temperature in Berlin. Cryptographic technology does not have a way to determine if the correct answer is 11℃, 17℃, or 2725℃. Human judgment is necessary for that (or a reliable thermometer, but determining which thermometer is trustworthy is also a matter of human judgment).
To address this issue, a decentralized data feed is proposed. However, there are some risks associated with collusion. To mitigate these risks, the concept of a Schelling Point is introduced. This concept is based on the idea of Nash Equilibria and Schelling Points.
