Idena is the first human-centric blockchain powered by Consensus. It operates on the principle that every node is linked to a unique human identity with equal voting rights. The concept of a unique human identity is crucial and dangerous in governance. The 3.5% Rule states that a small percentage of people can bring about systemic change in a connected world through cooperation. In advanced governance systems like DAO, such as Permissionless organizations, this is only possible through capital (Stake). What is lacking is a Democratic Governance Mechanism Online, which is a global democratic governance mechanism based on standardized online unique identities that provide strong protection against forgery and collusion. The discussion about stake in the context of Proof of Stake criticizes the current state of governance, stating that it relies too much on capital. The proposition of Idena raises the challenge of "the presence of external verifiers" when discussing existing global identities. This refers to the loss of people's privacy for the benefit of nations and corporations through authentication tied to social media, biometric authentication, passports, etc.
The characteristics required for a unique human identity include being anonymous or using pseudonyms, not undergoing verification by third-party authentication periods, being accessible to anyone, having resistance to censorship, being verifiable online, being non-permanent and untraceable, being difficult to impersonate and not being traded, and having appropriate incentives and gamification.
A Crypto identity is a globally verifiable, censorship-resistant ID that does not directly reference the owner, similar to Bitcoin where the uniqueness of the identity itself holds value. The Idena protocol implements cryptographic IDs through simultaneous tests conducted worldwide that are common sense to humans but unsolvable for machines. Some traction points for Idena include the verification of 597 identities, a blockchain with 25 full nodes, a weekly growth rate of 15%, and over 1,300 solved flip puzzles similar to reCAPTCHA. It has a passionate community of over 3,000 people who claim to be riding the wave of DAOization. In February 2020, qTrade listed $IDNA, and it currently enables a basic income of $180 per month per person, although the details are unclear. The vision for Idena includes a network of one node per person, scalable BFT consensus and sharding, autonomy and self-funding, reaching 100 million users by 2025, authentication events every three months, capturing 1% of the global advertising market, and a zero-wallet DAO for global impact projects.
