Hobbes

Thomas Hobbes was a renowned English philosopher. He is best known for his work on political philosophy and his book, Leviathan. Hobbes believed that human nature is inherently selfish and that without a strong central authority, society would descend into chaos. He argued for the necessity of a social contract, in which individuals surrender some of their freedoms in exchange for protection and order from the government. Hobbes' ideas have had a significant impact on political thought and continue to be studied and debated today.
