Architecture is an Extension of the Body
On 2023/7/11, I came across an interesting concept: Architecture is an Extension of the Body. It made me think about how throughout history, humans have externalized various aspects of themselves. For example, even fish used to have an exoskeleton, but over time, they developed an endoskeleton. Humans, on the other hand, have even externalized weapons like teeth and claws. It is said that eventually, we will even externalize our brains. This process of externalization is referred to as Objectivation, a term commonly used by Sale and Levi. They argue that this process is what leads to Homisation, the humanization of objects. This idea resonated with me and made me wonder, is architecture the externalization of our skin? This thought is something I jotted down in my notes. It also reminded me of the concept of GO_izm.
