ラムサール条約 (正式名称: 特に水鳥の生息地として国際的に重要な湿地に関する条約)
The Ramsar Convention (Convention for Wetlands of International Importance and significant Waterfowl Habitats)
国際協力による湿地の保全と賢明な利用のための条約です。
2012年、 大沼は道南では初の登録地となり、 駒ヶ岳の噴火により出来上がった複雑な
地形や道南を北限とするブナ林を有する広 森 流山と呼ばれる数多くの島々、 周囲の
おびただしい湿地帯、 多くの生物の命を育む多様性により登録地となりました。
この大沼が自然と人との調和を図る地になる事を望みます。
This convention is a treaty that provides the framework for international cooperation concerning the conservation and
wise use of wetlands and their resources.
In 2012, Onuma was designated as the first location in southern Hokkaido on this list of sites due to the area's complex
shape (created by Mt.Komagatake's eruptions), broad leaf forests (Including a rare variety of northern beech trees),
floating islands (known as Nagareyama), many wetlands, and general biodiversity.
We hope that Onuma will remain a place of concord between nature and humans for many years to come.

Onuma is comprised of three lakes: Lake Onuma, Lake Konuma, and Lake Junsainuma.
There are many Nagareyama within each lake, and beautiful greenery surrounds the area.
Onuma is one of southern Hokkaido's truly unique ecological systems.

駒ケ岳の大噴火により溶岩で川が堰き止められ大沼ができました。
Mt.Komagatake's great eruption blocked the Orito River, which created the three lakes.
北海道で最初の国定公園に指定されました。
Onuma was registered as the first Quasi-National park in Hokkaido.
道南で最初のラムサール条約湿地に登録されました。
Onuma was designated as the first Ramsar site in southern Hokkaido.
公園広場から見る秀峰駒ケ岳を背景とした景観は有名ではあるが、小沼に隣接する
「日暮山」から見る大沼は緑に囲まれていることが良くわかる風景を見る事ができる。
周辺の緑地にはオオタカ、クマゲラなどの鳥類やキタキツネやエゾリス、昆虫
などの多種多様な生物が生息している。 冬にはオオワシ、白鳥などが飛来する。
The view from the center of the park, featuring Mt.Komagatake in the background, is widely known and
photographed; while Mt.Higurashi, which stands next to Lake Konuma, features a view of Onuma's lush
greenery.
Many kinds of birds, such as the Northern Goshawk and Black Woodpecker, can be seen in the area.
The Ezo Red Fox and Hokkaido Squirrel can be found here as well. In winter, Onuma also becomes home
to many Steller's Sea Eagles and swans.
